it's friday, are you being comfy?

so not to ruin the ability to read this comfy guide on any day or at any time of the year...BUT i'm going to go ahead and remind you all that it's friday. friggin friday.

whether we're working hard all week or so unemployed we've begun to make up reason why we're funemployed, the day of friday is still one to be reminded (if only for once a week) that it is okay to eat, drink, and be comfy.

for me - the holidays are always a time i look forward to being with family and friends. i smile at the simple thought of a christmas movie. i bawl at a sentimental movie. i would frankly wrap my entire body in christmas lights if only it meant that i could bask in the joy of the holiday spirit until the end of time. too much? i think not.

during a season which most consider to be full of haves and have nots, i think it's important to stop and cherish the many haves. clothes. wine. magazines. tvs. cars. shoes (que tearful person now in memory of the song "christmas shoes"?). we have a lot. but it's also important to remember the things we may not have...

more wine. more comfy clothes. more shoes. an extra tv.

call me shallow, but i think it's pretty impressive that in a season of giving we forget or pretend to ignore the fact that we ourselves are pretty screwed when it comes to having the things that we enjoy. don't get me wrong, it's important to value the simple, the free, the easy - but it's also important to remember that every now and then it wouldn't hurt for us all to get a little crazy for a moment and talk out loud to ourselves. what the heck do you want, jim bob of 100 kids and counting? you want to relax with the many kids you already have and stop having more kids? ohhh! what a great idea.

you'd be surprised what impressive thoughts we really do have when we listen to our own.

before we really start a literal guide to being comfy, why don't we all take a moment and ask ourselves what the heck we want to make ourselves comfy? the worse thing that could happen is that you realize later, this was a poor decision, you learn from that decision, and you will most likely be glad that you were wearing jeggings while you made that decision...as apposed to those horrid talored pants and pleated skirts.

so go ahead, friday night folks (after all it is friday), settle into the nighttime, grab your stuffed animals (bc i know you all still have them), throw back that glass of spiked something, and remember to think about yourself for a little while...after all, tis the season to be comfy.

comfy4life.

today your life will change forever. i can't exactly tell if it will happen quickly or eventually, but it will. for starters, it's impossible to think about how un-comfortable our lives can truly be from day-to-day.

don't get sassy with me, folks. you may think my little comment above is too forward or too...just too much, but i'm hear to remind you all of one thing...and one thing only: we all need a heck of a lot more comfort in our lives.

that's right, you heard me. stop being so stinking ridged, fancy, & stylish. please, for all of us, put down the gorgeous high-heels (which i love by the way, nice color!). don't you dare think about touching up your make-up (that means you too, boys).

stop doing all these things and start letting yourself simply sink into that moment where you can just be.

this is about being comfy. it's about sweatpants and cozy blankets. seasonal socks and library books. those old, (actually) worn t-shirts...and not the ones you bought yesterday at a vintage store. if you really think about it, you'll probably agree that we all worry a bit too much about what we look like and forget about how we feel while we're living.

perhaps i'm getting too deep for you, so let me make it simple...take even 1/2 of these thoughts to heart and you'll find yourself not only being comfy for a day, but comfy4life.

life is comfy. so go ahead, go buy yourself a pair of comfy pants, bookmark this page, grab your cup of hot coffee, stare out the window at that damn sunset, curl up in your bed, lounge all day long & start opening your eyes, folks. it's time to get comfy.
